Comparing Drawings

The powerful Comparison feature in Causeway’s BIMMeasure allows the user to compare the contents of one drawing or model file with that of another to determine what the differences are between them are so that those differences may be measured or decisions can be taken on the required actions.

The Comparison feature has many uses. Typically, these might include:

·         Compare the current working drawing with a revision to analyse the additions, deletions and changes in position of items.

·         Identify the differences in general arrangement layouts of floors in a multi floor buildings where the layout repeats, for the most part.  This will help productivity as only the identified differences need measuring.

·         Compare design drawings with contractor drawings and as built drawings.

·         Evaluate differences between different design alternatives and scheme proposals.

Whilst the guide often uses the term ‘drawing comparison’, where a drawing is traditionally a 2D plan or elevational view, the comparison feature works equally well on 3D models. Consequently, the term drawing and model are interchangeable throughout the guide.
