Item Counting is an automated process of counting similar to the block count found in previous versions. A distinct improvement in this version is the ability to count any object, not just blocks. It can be done by the following methods:
· By starting the Command and selecting an object in the viewer.
· By selecting an object in the Contents tree.
Each method is further described below:
Command Tool Driven
1. Ensure the appropriate Object Snaps are on (optional)
2. Start the Command
3. Pick the first object (in this case a WC)
4. Pick a marker location point
The measurement is created and all instances of that object are counted and marked up (shown in magenta below.)
Model Contents Driven
1. Identify the object on the Model contents. Often it is helpful to pick the object on screen first to find it the in the tree. In the following example, the wash hand basin has been identified. It is listed in the model contents and in this case, is a block.
The block has a reference of A1138DB and it can be seen that there are other instances of that block in this drawing. (The figure in brackets is the unique identifer for each object and is never repeated in that drawing).
2. Right-click on the object in the contents tree and select Item Count.
3. Add a note as required.
The total number of that object in the drawing will be saved as a number count. The measurement is displayed graphically on screen and in the measurements window with the relevant number.
To aid further counting, turning off the measurement in the measurements window will also turn off the objects in the viewer to avoid double counting.
